Are our paper cleaning products eco-friendly?

When it comes to selecting environmentally friendly paper, we’re on a roll.

As a proud member of Planet Mark, we’re always on the lookout for products with fantastic eco-credentials – and, recently, we’ve added several products to our paper range that fit the bill.

Eco-label certified, these are a new generation of ecological products – made from 100% recycled beverage cartons, undyed and free from any colour or chemicals. They’re of exceptional quality, offering a fantastic level of strength and durability, whilst still being soft and gentle on the hands. And the best bit? They avoid adding to landfills, save beautiful trees and reduce CO2.

Will I need a dispenser?

Accepted Answer

It’s not essential. In fact, some of our paper cleaning products (e.g. facial tissues) are designed to be used in their original packaging. And as for the rest, they can all technically be used without a dispenser. After all, paper hand towels can be stacked and used one by one. Toilet roll can be easily ripped from the roll. Blue roll can be torn by hand as and when required.

However, dispensers can be useful for several reasons:

They provide quick, easy access.
They’re space-saving and offer a way to store paper cleaning products neatly.
They keep the paper clean and free from contamination.
They help to reduce waste.
They’re easy to restock .
They’re a much more hygienic option, particularly in a kitchen or bathroom.

As such, they’re usually a valuable investment for an early years setting.

What’s the difference between blue and white cleaning paper?

Accepted Answer

In most cases, not very much.

They’re usually made from very similar materials, via the same production process – so they perform in pretty much the same way. Due to their design, blue cleaning paper can sometimes be a little stronger and more absorbent than white. But the only real difference is their colour, with the distinctive shade of ‘blue’ roll or ‘blue’ paper towels achieved using a food-safe dye. 

Blue products are often associated with hygiene-sensitive cleaning tasks and environments where cleanliness is paramount, whilst white products are more commonly chosen for general day-to-day cleaning jobs. But ultimately, it just comes down to personal preference.
